Job Duties:

Responsible for analyzing physical, biological, or chemical evidence submitted to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation; and composing technical laboratory reports describing the results of tests.  Uses and maintains advanced scientific instrumentation. Consults with criminal court attorneys, and testifies in local, state, and federal courts on the results of forensic analysis. Serves as a consultant to law enforcement investigators across the state. Responsible for crime scene investigation requiring 24/7 on-call status on a rotating basis.

 Minimum Qualifications:

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry, or other  natural or physical sciences; forensic science, or other forensic related areas; including a minimum of thirty-six quarter hours (twenty-four semester hours) in chemistry.

Monthly Salary:

$3,777 – $5,860

BUSINESS TECH SUPPORT-INTERMEDIATE

Technology and Innovation Division 

TBI Headquarters, Davidson County

Job Duties:

Learns the technical and business functions of program areas in order to provide hardware and software technical support.  Completes all assigned incident and service requests within the Service Level Agreement (SLA) determined for the request type.  Uses the Incident Management System to provide status of incident and service requests.  Works with Business Tech Support-Advanced and Lead staff to obtain quotes from vendors and prepare Requests for Purchases (RFPs).  Works with Business Tech Support-Advanced and Lead staff to maintain hardware inventory, including peripheral devices, as hardware is added, reassigned, or surplused.  Responsible for deployment of new hardware, including scheduling, delivery, setup, installation, and user training.  Responsible for surplusing all outdated hardware, including destruction of hard drives and removal of equipment.  Works with Business Tech Support-Advanced and Lead staff to obtain approval, schedule visits, and travel to TBI field offices to provide information updates and/or address technical issues.

CJIS SUPPORT SPECIALIST

Drug Investigation Division

TBI Headquarters, Davidson County

Job Duties:

Responsible for maintaining the Drug Offender and the Animal Abuse Registries, to include entering judgments that meet the criteria, auditing reports for any judgments not received that require registration, and removing offenders from the registry when appropriate. Maintains a familiarity with drug offenses and their eligibility for inclusion. Works with various agencies through the Automated Case Judgment system interfacing information regarding the Drug Offender Registry with other databases. Maintains the email for the Drug Offender Registry, and answers and makes phone calls to clerks’/district attorneys’ offices. Establishes and maintains Standard Operating Procedures for the Drug Offender and Animal Abuse Registries and gathers statistical information for reporting. Receives, verifies, and audits undercover applications. Stays current with legislative changes and ensures they are implemented accordingly. Responsible for developing training materials, scheduling and instructing classes for the Tennessee Drug Offender Registry. Prepares for audits, both internally and externally. Responsible for obtaining and maintaining National Crime Information Center (NCIC) certification.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Experience: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree and one year of full-time experience within a criminal justice setting performing statistical analysis; examining criminal history and/or biometrics information; performing criminal justice information system (CJIS) program audits and/or training; or performing criminal justice communications work. – See more at the following link:
