MEDIA ADVISORY: LAB TOUR VIDEO AVAILABILITY

NASHVILLE – Later this month, the Forensic Services Division at the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation will offer a media tour of the Nashville Crime Laboratory. Because of the volume of ongoing cases, and restrictions that ensure sterility of the testing, this will be the only opportunity this year for media to gather photographs and video of many of the processes and instruments used in examining evidence in a variety of disciplines, including Firearms, DNA, Latent Prints, and Drug Chemistry, where scientists have a variety of responsibilities, including working to distinguish hemp from marijuana. There will also be an opportunity to interview a variety of scientists.

DATE:                  Tuesday, September 17th

TIME:                   9:30 a.m. Central Time

LOCATION:         TBI Headquarters

(Please gather in the courtroom prior to the tour)

901 R.S. Gass Blvd.

Nashville, TN 37216

Media planning to attend can arrive and set up as early as 9:00 a.m.

Due to the space limitations within the lab, there will be a limit on the number of spots available for the tour for credentialed Tennessee media. Please note: TBI does not offer similar tours of the Knoxville or Memphis Crime Laboratories. If you plan to have someone from your news organization attend, please send an email to TBI.Media@tn.gov with that person’s name, news agency, and title.
