TBI SPECIAL AGENT CRIMINAL INVESTIGATOR 1

Criminal Investigation Division & Drug Investigation Division

Criminal Investigation positions are available in the following counties: Cumberland, Dickson, Franklin, Lawrence, Marion, Overton, Sullivan, Sumner
Drug Investigation positions are available in the following counties: Dyer, Union

Monthly Salary: $3,777-$5,860

Job Duties:
Responsible for conducting criminal investigations, processing crime scenes, and developing prosecutable criminal cases against persons who violate state and federal laws. Conducts interviews and interrogations, arrests suspects, and may operate surveillance equipment. Maintains regular contact with law enforcement agencies and witnesses to gather intelligence and conduct investigations. Prepares investigative reports to be used by the District Attorney General’s Office and/or U.S. Attorney Office for prosecution.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education and Experience: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree.

TBI SPECIAL AGENT CRIMINAL INVESTIGATOR 1

Polygraph Examiner, Criminal Investigation Division

This position is based in TBI’s East region.

Monthly Salary: $3,777-$5,860

Job Duties:
Responsible for performing highly specialized technical work in conducting specific issue polygraph examinations in criminal investigations for local and state law enforcement. The Polygraph Examiner conducts pre-test interviews to determine factors affecting test conditions. Duties include: formulating and discussing test questions with the subject being polygraphed, analyzing examination charts, noting unusual circumstances, submitting reports regarding polygraph results, advising investigators about legal limitations and individual rights pertaining to the polygraph, meeting with members of the Prosecutor’s offices to discuss polygraph results and confessions, submitting reports to investigators and attorneys involving the polygraph, and appearing as an expert witness in court. The selected candidate will be provided required training.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education and Experience: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree.

Preferred Qualifications:
Five or more years of experience in a special investigations unit at a law enforcement department. A Polygraph Examiner license is desired, but not required.

Monthly Salary: $3,777-$5,860

Job Duties:
Conducts investigations of fire scenes with a focus on determining possible arson or explosives related criminal activity. Conducts interviews and interrogations, arrests suspects, and may operate surveillance equipment. Maintains regular contact with law enforcement agencies and witnesses to gather intelligence and conduct investigations. Prepares investigative reports to be used by the District Attorney General’s Office and/or U.S. Attorney Office for prosecution.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education and Experience: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree.

Preferred Qualifications:
Two (2) or more years of experience in a in a special investigations unit at a law enforcement department involving fire investigations or explosives investigations. Fire Investigator and/or Explosives Handler certifications are desired.

Medicaid Fraud Control Division

These positions are available in the following counties: Davidson, Hamilton, Knox, Madison (3 Positions), Maury (4 Positions), Shelby (3 Positions)

Monthly Salary: $3,777-$5,860

Job Duties:
Conducts Medicaid fraud investigations targeting providers defrauding the State of Tennessee Medicaid program.  Also conducts abuse investigations of vulnerable adults that occur in a facility setting.  Medicaid Fraud Special Agent-Criminal Investigator’s duties include but are not limited to: conducting subject, victim, and witness interviews; composing case reports; reviewing records, documents, and data; preparing and executing search warrants; and providing courtroom testimony in state and federal court.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education and Experience: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree.

Preferred Qualifications:
Two (2) or more years of experience in conducting investigations to include, drug diversion, bank fraud, insurance fraud, healthcare eligibility/enrollment fraud, or Medicaid and/or Medicare fraud. A degree in Accounting or a similar discipline, a Public Accountant Certification, or a Fraud Examiner Certification is desired.
