SULLIVAN COUNTY – An investigation by Special Agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has resulted in the indictment of a former Sullivan County corrections officer accused of inappropriately touching an inmate.
In January, at the request of 2nd District Attorney General Barry Staubus, TBI Agents began investigating Timothy A. Edens (DOB 10/3/94). During the course of the investigation, Agents developed information that, on January 17th, Edens inappropriately touched a female inmate at the Kingsport Justice Center. The Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office terminated Edens’ employment when the allegations surfaced.
Last week, the Sullivan County Grand Jury returned indictments charging Edens with two counts of Sexual Contact with an Inmate. Today, he turned himself in and was booked into the Sullivan County Jail on a $7,500 bond.
