At the request of 14th District Attorney General Craig Northcott, TBI Agents continue to investigate the circumstances leading to an officer-involved shooting that occurred Friday night in Tullahoma.

Preliminary information indicates that officers with the Tullahoma Police Department responded to the Walmart store located along North Jackson Street after receiving information that a wanted individual was inside. Officers located the man, identified as Mark Wade Luttrell, Jr. (DOB 10/1/84), inside the store and approached him. At some point during the confrontation, Luttrell attempted to pull a gun on officers. One of the officers fired at Luttrell, striking him. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

This continues to be an active and ongoing investigation, as TBI Special Agents, assisted by a team of Forensic Scientists, gather any and all relevant interviews and evidence. As in any case, our investigative findings will be shared with the District Attorney General throughout the process for his consideration and review.

As is our policy, the TBI does not identify the officers involved in these types of incidents and instead refers questions of that nature to their respective department.

Any updates on this investigation will be posted online at TBINewsroom.com.
