Updated on 11/27/2017 at 1:13pm CST: Derek Grooms has been charged with Felony Murder and Aggravated Child Abuse stemming from the same incident. Bond has been revised to $500,000 and the preliminary hearing has been scheduled for December 13th in Benton County.
JACKSON – An investigation by Special Agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and Benton County Sheriff’s Department has resulted in the arrest of Derek Grooms.
On November 3rd, TBI began an investigation into the death of Ashley Grooms, DOB 10/27/1996, that occurred at the residence located at 60 Jayson Street in Camden, TN.
At this point in the investigation the deceased individual’s husband, Derek Grooms, DOB 9/19/1993, has been arrested on charges of Aggravated Child Endangerment, Unlawful Possession of Weapon, and Possession of Methamphetamine.
Derek Grooms is currently being held in the Benton County Jail on a $250,000 bond. This death investigation remains active and ongoing.
