KNOXVILLE – An investigation by Special Agents with the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit of the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has resulted in the arrest of two women charged with tampering with records at a Loudon County health care facility.

On April 10, 2014, at the request of the Adult Protective Services unit of the Tennessee Department of Human Services, TBI Special Agents began investigating a report of abuse at the Baptist Health Care Center at 700 Williams Ferry Road in Lenoir City. During the course of the investigation, Agents developed information that on March 11, 2014, Administrator Anita Wilmoth and Director of Nursing Freda Jo Morton instructed the staff at the facility to mislead the state investigators looking into the allegations of abuse.

Today, TBI Agents charged Anita Wilmoth, 55, who has since retired from the Baptist Health Care Center, and Freda Jo Morton, 52, with Tampering with Government Records and Failure to Make a Report. Both women turned themselves in at the Loudon County Jail today, where they were booked and released on their own recognizance.
