JACKSON – The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has obtained indictments for a Tipton County woman already charged in connection to her husband’s murder.
At the request of 25th District Attorney General Mike Dunavant, TBI Special Agents began investigating Angela Denise Brewer on December 8, 2013, the same day Tipton County deputies discovered the body of Brewer’s husband, William Stanford Brewer, Jr. in the couple’s bedroom. During the course of the investigation, Angela reported she woke up around 5:30 that morning, after believing she heard an intruder outside the family’s Brighton home. She further stated she retrieved a shotgun from a gun case and loaded it, then after checking the back door and front window, returned to the bedroom. Brewer stated she then tried to wake her husband and placed the weapon in the bed, pointing the barrel of the gun at his head. When she leaned over to wake him, her hand was on the weapon and the shotgun discharged, shooting and killing him.
Brewer originally faced a charge of 2nd Degree Murder. However, evidence produced by further investigation led the Tipton County Grand Jury to return two indictments last week for the 43-year-old, charging her with First Degree Murder and Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Dangerous Felony. Brewer was subsequently arrested and booked into the Tipton County Correctional Facility last week, where, at the time of this release, she was being held on $100,000 bond.
