NASHVILLE – The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation today arrested the former Lewis County Trustee after he was indicted by the Lewis County grand jury for stealing county funds.

Clark Carroll, 50, of Hohenwald, Tenn. was indicted on one count of theft over $10,000 and one count of official misconduct. While serving as the elected Lewis County Trustee, Carroll stole approximately $45,000 from Lewis County coffers between October 2011 and June 2013. In August of 2013, the 21st Judicial District Attorney General requested TBI investigate the theft and official misconduct based on the audit findings of the State of Tennessee Comptroller’s Office.

On October 15, 2013 Clark was suspended from his position as Lewis County Trustee as part of ouster proceedings being conducted by the State of Tennessee Attorney General. Clark was arrested in Hohenwald without incident and booked into the Lewis County Jail on $5,000 bond.
