JACKSON, Tenn. – The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation last night arrested two University of Tennessee at Martin students for sending a threatening message to a Facebook friend last month for harassing the victim.
Patrick Valdez (top photo), 18, and Erin Chism (bottom photo), 18, both of Martin, Tenn. were both charged with one count of felony harassment and one count of felony conspiracy to commit harassment. On Tuesday, the 27th Judicial District Attorney General requested TBI investigate allegations that Valdez and Chism were behind a University of Tennessee Knoxville campus student receiving a threatening message on her Facebook page on last month. TBI determined that Valdez wrote and produced a song that made reference to sexually assaulting and killing the victim, killing her family and burning their house down. Chism then friended the victim on Facebook and sent the song to her. Valdez had a previous relationship with the victim. The UT Martin Police Department and Knoxville Police Department assisted in the investigation.
Valdez and Chism were booked into the Weakley County Jail and are expected to be arraigned in court today.
