PARSONS – An investigation by Special Agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has led to the indictment of a Parsons woman on 18 counts of fraudulently obtaining prescription drugs and identity theft.
In March, TBI Agents joined investigators with the Bureau of Tenncare – Office of Inspector General in investigating allegations that Paula Hutcherson (DOB: 3/12/69) was obtaining controlled substances by fraud. Information obtained during the investigation revealed that between September of 2017 and January of 2019, while working as a medical assistant in Decatur County, Hutcherson used her position to fraudulently obtain prescription medications.
This week, the Decatur County Grand Jury returned indictments charging Hutcherson with 18 counts – 13 counts of Prescription Drug Fraud and five counts of Identity Theft. On Thursday, Hutcherson was booked into the Decatur County Jail on $20,000 bond.
