JOB DUTIES
Responsible for conducting criminal investigations, processing crime scenes, and developing prosecutable criminal cases against persons who violate state and federal laws. Conducts interviews and interrogations, arrests suspects, and may operate surveillance equipment. Maintains regular contact with law enforcement agencies and witnesses to gather intelligence and conduct investigations. Prepares investigative reports to be used by District and U.S. Attorneys for prosecution.
JOB DUTIES (Human Trafficking)
Conducts investigations in which Human Trafficking and other related crimes are the sole focus. Human Trafficking Special Agent-Criminal Investigators identify and target Human Trafficking organizations through covert operations, operate proactive investigations integrating electronic surveillance equipment and other digital evidence gathering means, and conduct training and education for law enforcement agencies and other organizations in regards to proper identification and reporting of Human Trafficking and related investigative processes. Additionally, advises local agency investigators and area prosecutors on the intricacies of Human Trafficking cases in order to consistently provide thorough investigative files for prosecution.
JOB DUTIES (Technical Services Unit)
Conducts investigations in which computers, cell phones, or digital media were used during the commission of a crime. Digital Forensics Special Agent-Criminal Investigators acquire digital evidence through onsite and lab searches, conduct examinations and analysis of all types of digital evidence, prepare reports detailing the results of findings, provide expert courtroom testimony, and advise investigators and District Attorneys on the availability and reliability of digital evidence.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (Human Trafficking)
Two (2) or more years of experience in a special investigations unit at a law enforcement department that involved complex organizational criminal investigations (e.g., Special Victims Unit, Special Investigations Unit, Drug Investigations, Vice, Gang Unit, etc.) Additional experience training law enforcement personnel is desired.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (Technical Services Unit)
A minimum of 15 college credit hours of computer science OR at least three years’ work experience in an IT role. Additionally, possession of an advanced IT related certification or training is preferred (e.g., CompTIA A+, Net+, Security+, CISSP, ACE Examiner, EnCE, etc.).
MONTHLY SALARY RANGE: $3,777 – $5,860
