Updated 9:00 AM 11/20: The individual involved in this officer-involved shooting has been identified as Charles Ray Bean (DOB 02/11/1952), of Overton County. He remains hospitalized in a Chattanooga hospital.

At the request of 31st District Attorney General Lisa Zavogiannis, TBI Special Agents are investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred Monday morning in Warren County.

Initial reports indicate investigators with the Warren County Sheriff’s Department were informed of a subject wanted from another county for a crime committed there. Investigators spotted the individual’s vehicle in Warren County and a brief pursuit ensued. The initial investigation indicates the individual turned down C Rody Road, turned his vehicle sideways, and began firing at officers, with officers exchanging gunfire with the subject. The individual sustained injuries, and was transported by helicopter to a Chattanooga hospital. No officers were injured in this incident.

The investigation continues to be active and ongoing.  As in any case, our investigative findings will be shared with the District Attorney General throughout the process for her consideration and review.

As is our policy, the TBI does not identify the officers involved in these types of incidents and instead refers questions of that nature to their respective department.

Any updates on this investigation will be posted online at TBINewsroom.com.
