At the request of 31st District Attorney General Lisa Zavogiannis, TBI Special Agents are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man that occurred while he was being pursued by the Warren County Sheriff’s Office.
Preliminary information indicates that on Friday afternoon, deputies were in pursuit of a stolen vehicle driven by a male subject. The driver, identified as Alexander K. Webb (DOB 3/19/88), crashed the vehicle in a wooded area along Harrison Ferry Road in McMinnville and then fled the scene on foot. One of the deputies caught up to Webb and attempted to take him into custody. Webb would not comply with verbal commands and at some point during the confrontation became unresponsive. Attempts by deputies to revive Webb were unsuccessful. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
TBI Agents are gathering relevant information, interviews, and evidence in connection to this active and ongoing case. Throughout the process, Agents will submit investigative findings to the District Attorney General for her review and consideration.
Per TBI policy, the agency does not identify the officers involved in these types of incidents and will instead refer questions of that nature to their department.
Any updates on this investigation will be posted online at TBINewsroom.com.
