JOHNSON CITY – An investigation by Special Agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has led to the indictment of a Johnson County man in connection with a marijuana grow operation.

In June, TBI Special Agents with the Drug Investigation Division, working alongside the Governor’s Task Force on Marijuana Eradication and the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, began investigating reports of a marijuana grow operation on property located in the 100 block of J. Johnson Road in Mountain City. During the course of the investigation, Agents determined Frank Chiono (DOB 12/9/61) was the person responsible for growing the marijuana.

This week, the Johnson County Grand Jury returned indictments charging Chiono with one count of Manufacture of Schedule VI. Today, he was arrested and booked into the Johnson County Jail and released on his own recognizance.
