JOB DUTIES
Responsible for analyzing physical, biological, or chemical evidence submitted to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation; and preparing technical laboratory reports describing the results of tests.  Uses and maintains advanced scientific instrumentation. Consults with criminal court attorneys, and testifies in local, state, and federal courts on the results of forensic analysis. Serves as a consultant to law enforcement investigators across the state. Responsible for crime scene investigation requiring 24/7 on-call status on a rotating basis.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry, mathematics, or other natural or physical sciences; medical technology; forensic science, criminalistics, or other forensic related areas; including a minimum of thirty-six quarter hours in chemistry.

MONTHLY SALARY RANGE: $3,777 – $5,860

Applicants must also have completed additional coursework in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, and Statistics, as required by the FBI to perform DNA analysis.

CJIS SUPPORT SPECIALIST
CJIS SUPPORT CENTER, TBI HEADQUARTERS 

JOB DUTIES
Responsible for developing training materials, scheduling and instructing all classes for the Tennessee Incident Based Reporting System (TIBRS), including the annual conference. Complies with FBI and state audit requirements by maintaining accurate and complete documentation of each training session. Conducts training sessions according to TIBRS Rules and TIBRS Training Procedures.  Prepares and submits lesson plans for Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) Commission for approval.  Provides technical assistance to law enforcement agencies, colleges, and universities for assistance with the reporting of crime incidents to TBI. This position requires proficiency with creating documents and presentations using Microsoft Offices Suite products and frequent overnight travel to teach classes across the state.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree and one year of full-time experience within a criminal justice setting performing statistical analysis; examining criminal history and/or biometrics information; performing criminal justice information system (CJIS) program audits and/or training; or performing criminal justice communications work.

Substitution of Experience for Education: Qualifying full-time experience within a criminal justice setting performing statistical analysis; examining criminal history and/or biometrics information; performing criminal justice information system (CJIS) program audits and/or training; or performing criminal justice communications work may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis to a maximum of four years.

MONTHLY SALARY RANGE: $2,742 – $4,386

INTELLIGENCE ANALYST 1
CRIMINAL INTELLIGENCE UNIT, SEX OFFENDER REGISTRY

JOB DUTIES
This is an entry-level position responsible for learning to provide analytical support to federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies statewide and nationwide, in response to requests for assistance. Specifically, provides primary analytical support to the Tennessee Sex Offender Registry, which includes but not limited to ensuring the Sex Offender Registry data is accurate, and provides training and technical support to Tennessee Sex Offender Registering Agencies.  This position will assist with other TBI Criminal Intelligence Unit (CIU) programs, which include AMBER Alert, Gangs, Human Trafficking, Missing Children, and Top Ten Most Wanted Fugitives. Learns to assist in the collection of data and information regarding identified law enforcement areas of study for the preparation of publications. This position also requires knowledge and familiarity with products in the Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Word.

JOB DUTIES
Responsible for developing curriculum and publishing completed courses via the TBI online training platform, Adobe Captivate, Adobe Presenter, and Storyline. This position has a e-Learning focus, to include developing adult learning curriculums and subsequent online training. Provides customer service to online students by providing technical assistance for navigating courses via desktops, laptops, tablets, and cell phones. Coordinates and facilitates webinars of training by insuring appropriate equipment is set up in a timely manner and records the training for later use.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:  Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree and experience equivalent to two years of full-time professional work in one or a combination of the following: academic teaching; educational administration; development of instructional materials for academic programs; or training.

Substitution of Education for Experience: Additional graduate course work in one or a combination of the following may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis, to a maximum of two years: (1) Human Resources Management; (2) Industrial/Organizational Psychology; or (3) any field related to the design or evaluation of curriculum and related instructional processes, including, but not limited to Curriculum and Instruction, or Educational/Instructional Media Design, Educational Evaluation, Research, and Statistics. (e.g., 36 graduate quarter hours may be substituted for one year of required experience).

Substitution of Experience for Education: Any teaching or training experience, or any remaining professional experience may be substituted for the required education, on a year-for-year basis, to a maximum of four years.

OR One year of professional experience in delivering workforce training with the State of Tennessee.
