MEMPHIS – An investigation by Special Agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has resulted in the arrest of a Ripley man on murder and weapons charges.

At the request of 25th District Attorney General Mike Dunavant, TBI Special Agents joined Ripley police officers in investigating a shooting that occurred on May 10th in Lauderdale County. A Ripley police officer responding to a disturbance call found 22-year-old Arric Lamont Ford deceased, lying on the road beside a vehicle at Highland Extended at Joanne Street. The victim had apparent gunshot wounds to his chest. During the course of the investigation, Agents developed information that Jabarre Jarrett had been involved in an altercation with the victim earlier in the night, and later caught up with him at that intersection and shot him.

On Friday night, Jabarre Jarrret, 27, was arrested and charged with one count of First Degree Murder, one count of Employing a Firearm during the Commission of a Dangerous Felony, and Felon in Possession of a Firearm. He was booked into the Lauderdale County Jail. At the time of this release, bond had not yet been set.
