JOB DUTIES

Responsible for analyzing physical, biological, or chemical evidence submitted to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation; and composing technical laboratory reports describing the results of tests.  Uses and maintains advanced scientific instrumentation. Consults with criminal court attorneys, and testifies in local, state, and federal courts on the results of forensic analysis. Serves as a consultant to law enforcement investigators across the state. Responsible for crime scene investigation requiring 24/7 on-call status on a rotating basis.

 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry, mathematics, or other natural or physical sciences; medical technology; forensic science, criminalistics, or other forensic related areas; including a minimum of thirty-six quarter hours in chemistry.

 MONTHLY SALARY RANGE

 $3,777 – $5,860

BUSINESS TECH SUPPORT-ADVANCED

INFORMATION SYSTEMS DIVISION, KNOXVILLE FIELD OFFICE

 JOB DUTIES

Responsible for providing hardware and software technical support requiring in-depth technical expertise.  Completes all assigned incident and service requests within the Service Level Agreement (SLA) determined for the request type.  Uses the Incident Management System to provide status of incident and service requests or provides weekly status reports to Program Director. Obtains approval from management for all hardware/software purchases required to address requests.  Obtains quotes from vendors, prepares Requests for Purchase (RFPs), obtains approval, and submits for processing. Maintains hardware inventory, including peripheral devices, as hardware is added, reassigned, or surplused.  Responsible for deployment of new hardware, including scheduling, delivery, setup, installation, and user training.  Responsible for surplusing all outdated hardware, including destruction of hard drives and removal of equipment.  Obtains approval, schedules visits, and travels to TBI field offices to provide information updates and/or address technical issues requiring in-depth technical expertise.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree and two years of experience in any one of the areas listed (1) the resolution of data manipulation errors, the maintenance of computer hardware, or the correction of other related system operations problems for computer system hardware or software; or (2) the strategic planning of hardware or software components; or (3) applications programming, or (4) the systematic analysis of user and systems requirements for computer or information systems; or (5) the training or instruction of individuals in systems analysis, applications programming, or proper utilization and implementation of hardware or software systems components within computer or information systems.

 SALARY RANGE

$3,533 – $5,654
