COOKEVILLE – An investigation by Special Agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has resulted in the indictment and arrest of a Byrdstown man charged with theft from a Disabled American Veterans fund.
At the request of 13th District Attorney General Bryant Dunaway, on August 11, 2015, TBI Special Agents began investigating a report of missing funds from the Honor Guard financial account of the Hull-York chapter of the Disabled American Veterans in Byrdstown. During the course of the investigation, Special Agents determined that former DAV Commander Glen Williams was the individual responsible for the theft from the account, which occurred over the course of multiple years beginning in December 2013. Williams has since resigned from that position.
On Monday, the Pickett County Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Williams, 65, with one count of Theft over $60,000. Williams was arrested at his home today without incident. He was taken to the Pickett County Jail, where he was booked on a $100,000 bond.
