JOB DUTIES
Responsible for answering calls from Federal Firearm Licensee (FFL) Dealers. Prepares and formats letters for denied transactions, and enters appeals data into a computer database. Files and maintains records, reports, and logs. Orders and tracks all office supplies for the TICS Unit.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree; qualifying full-time increasingly responsible sub-professional experience or paraprofessional or professional experience may be substituted for the required education, on a year-for-year basis, to a maximum of four years
MONTHLY SALARY RANGE: $2,256- $3,608

CJIS SUPPORT SPECIALIST
There are two (2) vacancies located in the CJIS Support Center: one in Davidson County and one in Knox County.
JOB DUTIES
Responsible for reviewing crime incident or National Crime Information Center (NCIC) data at law enforcement agencies and colleges/universities for accuracy and completeness. Prepares written reports after each review and ensures all required steps are completed for each agency’s audit. May also assist with audits of large agencies outside of the assigned region. Provides technical assistance to agencies/colleges with the reporting of crime incidents to TBI. Assists in teaching regional training classes. Manages the Peak Performance NCIC audit software. Monitors data on a frequent basis using TN Crime Online to ensure agencies/colleges are contributing data according to state statute(s). Reviews take place on site and involve frequent overnight travel.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree and one year of full-time experience within a criminal justice setting performing statistical analysis; examining criminal history and/or biometrics information; performing criminal justice information system (CJIS) program audits and/or training; or performing criminal justice communications work.
Substitution of Experience for Education: Qualifying full-time experience within a criminal justice setting performing statistical analysis; examining criminal history and/or biometrics information; performing criminal justice information system (CJIS) program audits and/or training; or performing criminal justice communications work may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis to a maximum of four years.
MONTHLY SALARY RANGE: $2,742 – $4,386

JOB DUTIES
Responsible for performing entry level criminal history examination work, to include verifying and updating criminal history information for dispositions, diversions, fingerprint submissions, and/or expungement orders. Performs background checks for local and/or state law enforcement agencies, Federal Firearm Licensees (FFLs), attorneys, court clerks, employment agencies, and the general public in compliance with state and federal laws. Translates and explains criminal justice terms, processes, procedures, and documentation. Enters and stores descriptive data, fingerprint cards, deceased records, and background check results in appropriate databases.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience: Two years of coursework at an accredited college or university.
Substitution of Experience for Education: Qualifying full-time professional experience in a criminal justice setting may be substituted for the required education on a year for year basis to a maximum of two years.
MONTHLY SALARY RANGE: $1,767- $2,297
