KNOXVILLE – Special Agents from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation have obtained an indictment for a man accused of brandishing a weapon during an exchange with a Maryville police officer earlier this year.
On April 6th, TBI Special Agents began investigating the incident at the request of 5th District Attorney General Mike Flynn, shortly after officers from the Maryville Police Department responded to a domestic complaint at a home in the area of South Fourth Street. There, an officer reported a man, later identified as Jason Halfacre, in possession of a gun. During the exchange with the officer, the investigation revealed Halfacre pointed the weapon at the officer, after which the officer fired, striking Halfacre, who was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Today, the Blount County Grand Jury returned an indictment, charging Halfacre with one count of Aggravated Assault. At the time of this release, the 40-year-old remained in the custody of the Blount County Jail.
