NASHVILLE – Special Agents from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation have obtained an indictment for a former county corrections officer accused of engaging in sexual contact with an inmate.
At the request of 22nd District Attorney General Brent Cooper, TBI Special Agents began investigating Christopher Glenn Springer on December 8, 2014. During the course of the investigation, Agents developed information that in the early morning hours on the same date, while working as an officer at the Wayne County Jail, Springer called a female inmate out of her cell and engaged in sexual contact with her. The victim subsequently reported the incident to a supervisor at the jail, which ultimately led to the TBI investigation.
On August 5th, the Wayne County Grand Jury returned an indictment for Springer, charging the 26-year-old Loretto man with one count of Sexual Battery by an Authority Figure. On Wednesday evening, Springer surrendered himself to a TBI Agent at the Wayne County Jail, where he was booked and released after posting $25,000 bond.
