COOKEVILLE – An investigation by Special Agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has resulted in a Spencer man being indicted on a charge of aggravated child neglect related to the death of his 7-month-old daughter.
At the request of 31st District Attorney General Lisa Zavogiannis, TBI Special Agents began investigating the death of an infant in an apartment on Drake Street in Spencer on January 25th. On that day, Van Buren County deputies and EMS personnel responded to a 911 call of an unresponsive infant. The investigation revealed that the baby, 7-month-old Brooklyn Green, was found not breathing after sleeping in the bed with her father. An autopsy determined the infant died as a result of asphyxiation.
On Monday, the Van Buren County Grand Jury returned an indictment against the child’s father, 20-year-old James M. Green, charging him with one count of Aggravated Child Neglect. Today, Green was arrested without incident by deputies with the White County Sheriff’s Office. At the time of this release, Green was being transported to the Van Buren County Jail to be booked, where he will be held on a $50,000 bond.
