KNOXVILLE – Special Agents from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation have obtained indictments for a Newport man accused of shooting his wife.

At the request of 4th District Attorney General James Dunn, TBI Special Agents began investigating a shooting on Lane Drive in Newport on January 13th, the same day it occurred. During the course of the investigation, Agents developed information that Toby Dwayne Dunn shot his wife during a domestic dispute.

Today, the Cocke County Grand Jury returned indictments for Dunn, charging the 39-year-old with one count of Attempted First Degree Murder, one count of Aggravated Assault, and one count of Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Dangerous Felony. Today, Dunn was booked into the Cocke County Jail, where, at the time of this release, he was being held on $100,000 bond.
