NASHVILLE – The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has obtained an indictment for an Alabama man accused of selling a Wayne County couple investments he wasn’t licensed to offer.
At the request of 22nd District Attorney General Mike Bottoms, TBI Special Agents began investigating Roy Allen Tucker on November 18, 2013. During the course of the investigation, Agents developed information that, in April 2013, Tucker convinced a Wayne County couple to invest in Certificates of Deposit, which Tucker was not licensed to offer. Agents also determined Tucker, doing business as Tri State Investments, never invested the victims’ money. Tucker later returned $100,000 of the couple’s money, but has not paid back a remaining balance of more than $164,000.
On July 17th, the Wayne County Grand Jury returned an indictment for Tucker, charging the 32-year-old Florence, Alabama man with one count of Theft. On Friday, he was booked into the Wayne County Jail, where his bond amount will be determined at a later date.
