KNOXVILLE-The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has secured indictments for a Union County father and son in connection to the murder of their neighbor.
At the request of District Attorney General Lori Phillips-Jones, TBI Special Agents began investigating the death of 45-year-old Michael Woodby on September 16, 2013, the same day Union County deputies found his body in a ditch along Highway 370 in Luttrell. During the course of the investigation, Special Agents developed information about a long-standing feud between Woodby and his neighbors across the street, 42-year-old Kevin Lee Waggoner and his son, 21-year-old Kolton Lee Waggoner (PICTURED BELOW). In an interview with investigators, the Waggoners acknowledged an altercation on September 16th, which led to a shooting and Woodby’s death.
Today, the Union County Grand Jury returned indictments for both men, charging Kevin Waggoner with one count of Second Degree Murder, and charging Kolton Waggoner with one count of Facilitation of Second Degree Murder. Authorities arrested Kolton today without incident at his place of employment. At the time of this release, he remained in the Union County Jail on $75,000 bond.
In the hours immediately following the crime, Union County deputies arrested Kevin Waggoner. He posted $250,000 bond and was released from the Union County Jail. He remains out on bond at this time. At the time of this release, his picture was unavailable.
