NASHVILLE-Special Agents of the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation arrested a Smith County man on Tuesday for Burglary and Aggravated Assault.

On March 10, 2014 and at the request of District Attorney General Tommy Thompson, TBI began an investigation into an assault that occurred on Douglas Lane in Lafayette. A man identified as Andy Wayne Goad, age 33 of Pleasant Shade, TN, had a romantic relationship with his girlfriend for two years until December 2013. Goad believed the reason why they broke up was because of another man.

On March 10, 2014, Goad went to his ex-girlfriend’s house on Douglas Lane and entered her home where he found another male and his ex-girlfriend. At that time, he assaulted both of them with a wooden club. Both the male and Goad’s ex-girlfriend suffered serious bodily injuries.

On March 11, 2014, Goad was arrested and charged with one count of Especially Aggravated Burglary, two counts of Aggravated Assault and one count of Unlawful Possession of a Weapon. He is being held at the Macon County Jail with a $25,000 bond.
