Martin, TN‐The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is currently investigating a shooting involving a suspect s Office.
In the early morning hours, a male clerk of a convenience store in Palmersville called the Weakley County dispatch regarding a male who threatened to kill him. The male suspect was located by deputies and the suspect refused to stop in his vehicle.
A vehicle pursuit with the deputies began. The suspect continued and drove through roadblocks and into oncoming traffic. The suspect then drove onto railroad tracks and approached a deputy that was blocking the next railroad crossing on East Peach Street. The subject did not stop and the deputy was compelled to open fire on the suspect. Finally, the suspect stopped his vehicle and was taken into custody. The male suspect did sustain injuries and was airlifted to Regional Medical Center in Memphis. His current medical condition is unknown at this time. The shooting incident occurred at approximately 6:36 AM.
At the request of the Office of District Attorney General Thomas A. Thomas, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is conducting the investigation. The identities of the suspect and deputy involved in this incident are currently being withheld at this time.
