NASHVILLE- The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, in cooperation with the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department,

investigated a former MNPD officer who was indicted by the Davidson County grand jury on one count of official misconduct earlier this month. The 20th Judicial District Attorney General’s office requested the investigation.

Gerald McShepard, 38, of Nashville, turned himself into the Davidson County jail this afternoon. In April of 2013, McShepard sent an anonymous letter to the Commissioner of the Department of Children’s Services making allegations of prostitution and pornography against a DCS employee. The letter contained confidential biographical information and provocative photos of the employee, who was McShepard’s ex-girlfriend. Those allegations made against the DCS employee were unfounded and the investigation revealed that McShepard sent the information in attempt to cause her harm at work subsequent to their separation. McShepard used resources available to him as a law enforcement officer to perpetrate sending the letter and photographs.

McShepard was booked into the jail on $5,000 bond.
