Sullivan County-The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation served inmate Jeffry Chase Caldwell, 25, of Kingsport, TN a warrant for Assault today.

Two days ago, a Sullivan County grand jury indicted Jeffry Chase Caldwell for Assault, which arose from the officer-involved shooting incident on June 11, 2013. Today, an agent served Caldwell the official charge where he is being held in Sullivan County Jail.  Caldwell is currently in the Sullivan County Jail on an unrelated Violation of Probation charge since being released from the hospital.

During the incident on June 11, 2013, Caldwell brandished a knife and waved what was perceived as handgun at responding officers when they attempted to verify active warrants for Caldwell. Caldwell has a bond amount of $750 for the Assault charge.
