KNOXVILLE – An investigation by Special Agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has led to the indictment of a Tennessee Department of Children’s Services employee.
In October 2015, at the request of 4th District Attorney General James Dunn, TBI Special Agents began investigating allegations against Brenna Elizabeth Cervino, who works as a case manager for the Department of Children’s Services. The allegations stem from a child abuse case assigned to Cervino, which resulted in children being removed from a home. During the course of the TBI investigation, it was determined that Cervino, 33, of Dandridge, filed false reports during the child abuse investigation.
Today, the Jefferson County Grand Jury returned indictments charging Cervino with two counts of Official Oppression, three counts of Official Misconduct, one count of Filing a False Report and one count of Falsifying a Government Record. This afternoon, Cervino turned herself in and was booked into the Jefferson County Jail on a $10,000 bond.
In addition to the charges out of Jefferson County, Cervino is also facing charges in Sevier County. Last week, a Sevier County Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Cervino with one count of Filing a False Report.
