JACKSON – An investigation by Special Agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has resulted in the arrest of a former jailer who is charged with having consensual sexual contact with an inmate.

At the request of 24th District Attorney General Matthew Stowe, on November 19, 2015, TBI Special Agents and officials with the Carroll County Jail began investigating a report that a jail employee had inappropriate contact with one of the female inmates. During the course of the investigation, Agents developed information that Patrick Sean Cary, who at that time was a correctional officer at the jail, had consensual sexual contact with a female inmate in November 2015.

On Monday, the Carroll County Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Patrick Cary, 22, with one count of Sexual Contact with Inmates. On Thursday, the McKenzie man turned himself in at the Carroll County Jail and was booked. Cary was released after posting a $5,000 bond.
