JACKSON – The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation today arrested a former drug court probation officer who worked in Union City after she was indicted by the Obion County grand jury this morning.

Martha Sue Moore, 44, of Obion, Tenn. was indicted on two counts of theft over $60,000 and one count of money laundering. In April of 2013, the 27th Judicial District Attorney General’s office requested TBI to investigate discrepancies in reported amounts of money Moore collected from probationers while working as a drug court probation officer for Westate Corrections Network. Westate Corrections Network discovered a discrepancy in money collected while preparing for an audit. As part of TBI’s investigation, the State Comptroller’s office conducted an investigative audit which revealed that between 2006 until early 2013, Moore stole more than $63,000 in money and fees from the probationers she was in charge of monitoring. The audit showed that Moore was issuing receipts to probationers for money being turned in to her, then taking the money.

Moore was booked into the Obion County Jail on $150,000 bond. Her initial court appearance is scheduled for August 16, 2013.
