NASHVILLE – The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation today served charges on the former Monterey Police Chief and took him into custody after the Putnam County grand jury indicted him yesterday.

Kevin Jerry Phillips, 44, of Monterey, was indicted on one count of official misconduct. The Monterey Police Department acquired a bulldozer and on June 1, 2012, the bulldozer was delivered to Chief Phillips property. The 13th Judicial District Attorney General requested TBI open an investigation on July 2, 2012. The investigation revealed that Chief Phillips used the bulldozer to make changes to his personal property. He has since resigned from the department.

Phillips was booked into the Putnam County Jail on $1,000 bond.
