NASHVILLE, TENN. – The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation removed the latest fugitive added to the state’s Top Ten Most Wanted list after he was captured this morning in Mountain City.
Richard Shane Mabe, 33, was spotted by officers and taken into custody by the Mountain City Police Department and Johnson County Sheriff’s Office after a short pursuit. He was added to the most wanted list yesterday in an effort to help locate him. Mabe was wanted by the TBI and Johnson County Sheriff’s Office on two counts of attempted second degree murder, one count of aggravated assault, one count of possession of a firearm in the commission of a dangerous felony, one count of unlawful carrying or possession of a weapon by a convicted felon and violation of probation. On June 10, 2013, deputies with the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting incident that occurred at 2636 Divide Road in Mountain City where two male victims had been shot. After interviewing witnesses, the investigation revealed that Mabe went to the residence with several other individuals and got into a verbal argument with a witness to a burglary of residence that Mabe had been accused of being involved in. During the altercation, Mabe reportedly pulled a gun and shot one victim in the abdomen and one in the face and leg. A round from Mabe’s gun was also fired through another individual’s residence.
His bond is set at a total of $125,000 for all the charges.
