Nashville, Tenn. – The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation today arrested the former treasurer of the Humphreys County Fair Board after she was indicted by the Humphreys County grand jury.
Wendy Cotham, 38, of Waverly, Tenn. was indicted Monday on one count of theft over $60,000. While volunteering as the fair board’s treasurer, Cotham stole approximately $74,000 between December 2008 and September 2012. She wrote checks to herself out of the fair board’s account that totaled nearly $32,000 and used the fair board’s WalMart card to make about $42,000 in personal purchases. The 23rd Judicial District Attorney General requested TBI to investigate the missing funds in September 2012.
Cotham was booked into the Humphreys County Jail on $25,000 bond.
