Knoxville, Tenn. – The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office today arrested an Anderson County man indicted last week by the Anderson County grand jury for the death of a female found dead along a road in September 2012.
James Wylie, 54, of Clinton, Tenn. was indicted last Tuesday on one count of criminal homicide, one count of kidnapping and one count of leaving the scene of a death or personal injury. On September 12, 2012, the Anderson County Sheriff’s Department responded to Cobb Hollow Road where a body had been discovered. The victim was identified as 33-year-old Martha Rose McGhee, of Lake City. The investigation revealed that McGhee fell out of Wylie’s vehicle and struck her head which caused her death. The two were reportedly friends. The 7th Judicial District Attorney General requested TBI to investigate McGhee’s death with the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office.
Wylie was booked into the Anderson County Jail this afternoon on $500,000 bond.
