Nashville, Tenn. – The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office last night arrested a Crossville man responsible for the murder of his girlfriend in November after he was indicted by the Cumberland County grand jury.
John Russell Giles, Jr., 61, was indicted Wednesday on one count of first degree murder for the death of 58-year-old Kimberly Ann Batty. On November 7, 2012, Giles reported to authorities that he found Batty dead in her home located at 154 Dovenshire Drive. Officers discovered her body in her living room with blunt force trauma to the head and signs of strangulation. The investigation revealed that Batty and Giles had been in a relationship for several months before she was killed and she was preparing to separate herself from him. The 13th Judicial District Attorney General’s office was also involved in the investigation.
Giles was booked into the Cumberland County Jail on $2 million bond.
