Memphis, Tenn. – The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation today arrested the administrator of a non-profit organization in Tipton County, Tenn. known as Tipton Cares after he was indicted by the Tipton County grand jury on theft charges.
Allen Parnelle Brown, 57, of Drummonds, Tenn. was indicted on two counts of theft over $1,000 and one count of theft over $10,000. In August of 2011, the 25th Judicial District Attorney General’s Office requested TBI to investigate allegations of Brown stealing money while working as the administrator of Tipton Cares. Information and evidence during the investigation developed that indicated Brown opened a credit card for the non-profit in his name and also received a donation of a truck for Tipton Cares which he in turn gave to a family member. Additionally, there was a CD transferred from Tipton Cares to an account held by Brown. The money was taken between November 2008 and June 2011 without the approval of the non-profit’s board of directors.
Brown was booked into the Tipton County Justice Complex on $15,000 bond. The Brighton Police Department was also involved in the investigation.
