Nashville, Tenn. – The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation last night arrested a Smith County man on statutory rape charges in a continuing TBI investigation into a child exploitation case that began in August 2012 in Smith County involving a minor female victim.
Jonathan Scott Mungle, 25, of Elmwood, Tenn. was indicted by the Smith County grand jury yesterday on five counts of statutory rape. In August 2012, TBI charged and arrested 51-year-old Doug Clemmons on one count of aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor. The two cases involve the same victim. The 15th Judicial District Attorney General’s office requested TBI to investigate the sex abuse allegations in August 2012 which revealed that Mungle engaged in sexual activity with the victim in July 2012.
Mungle was booked into the Smith County Jail on $25,000 bond.
