Update:  TBI seeking public’s assistance

Knoxville, Tenn. –The family of a murder victim in Roane County is increasing the amount of reward money being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible for the murder of 85-year-old Russel Charles Blevins. The reward now stands at $5,000 which is an increase from the $3,000 original offered at the end of August.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is continuing to urge anyone with information about the case to contact law enforcement. The unsolved Roane County homicide case is under investigation by the TBI, Roane County Sheriff’s Office and 9thJudicial District Attorney General’s office.

Family members discovered the victim, Russel Charles Blevins, 85, shot multiple times in his home located at 138 Hart Orchard Road in Kingston, Tenn. on Sunday, August 12, 2012. Investigators believe firearms are missing from Blevin’s residence including an M-1 30 cal. Carbine Rifle similar to the photo included with this release. The serial number to the weapon is unknown.
